More than 20 snipes headed towards Budworth Sailing Club on the 17 th and 18 th September buoyed on by forecast of wind wh ich hasn’t be en seen in those parts for many an open meeting.

Lo and behold on the Saturday with a course set and without postponement 3 races took place. During those 3 races 4 seasons descended upon the fleet, wind, flat calm, bright sunshine and torrential rain, throughout the weather changes one thing remained consistent and that was the superiority of Phil and Emma Hackney and Mark Antonelli and Tracey Norris who on the day were in a different league as they engaged in their own private dual well ahead of the remainder of the fleet. Despite considerable place changes between the two boats Phil and Emma came out on top on all 3 races leaving them with a comfortable overnight lead.

The Budworth Snipe Open tradition returned on Sunday with little wind and a postponement. When race 4 started Alan Williams and Liz Pike broke away from the pack in shifting conditions to take the race win. Race 5 was won comfortably by Sue Roberts crewed by her Son, Lloyd, on their first competitive outing and in a borrowed boat.
