SCIRA Membership

Dear Snipe Sailor

The membership fees for Snipe sailors have been kept the same for the past 3 years! When sailing regularly at club level and/or UK open meetings helms have to be members of SCIRA UK.

Both helm and crew are required to be members of the Snipe International Association when sailing at the UK Nationals as well as International events. Helms should ensure that both they and their crew are fully paid members of SCIRA International before competing in these events.

All senior crews and junior crews have to be members of the UK Snipe Class when taking part in open meetings and/or the UK Nationals (there is a heavy subsidy for juniors); this is for insurance purposes. A category for temporary member is available for those crews who only sail at occasional open meetings or the Nationals. This temporary membership will be collected by either the Membership Secretary or the National Secretary at each open meeting/nationals.

This year the UK Nationals are going to be held in the Orkney Islands. The committee has decided that each helm taking a boat up to Orkney will be entitled to claim a £50 subsidy towards their ferry cost. To receive this subsidy the helm must be a fully paid up member of SCIRA UK and SCIRA International by 31st May 2013. (Please note: This subsidy will also apply to Snipe sailors in Orkney travelling with their boats to future UK Nationals).

If you should have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact me by email

Best wishes for a successful sailing season in 2013
